Alternative Education (Alt Ed) Is Hiring!!!

Interested in mental health and looking to have a positive impact? Join Alt Ed as we alter perceptions of mental health everywhere!

We are a startup aimed at raising awareness of mental health in education and the workplace, and helping institutions improve their mental health services. As well as this, we have created a space online for people to tell their mental health stories and find advice.

With Alt Ed, you can make a positive impact from the comfort of your bedroom! Below are the roles we are currently looking to fill:

Alt Ed Writer:

About the Role:

As a contributing writer, you will be creating shareable content, with the help of the Editor, which will be published on our journal (Alt Ed Journal) and on our social media pages. The stories we are interesting in are your experiences around mental health problems whether that be directly or indirectly.

We are looking for ambitious writers with strong writing skills who can emulate Alt Ed’s tone of voice — raw emotion, equality, vulnerability, openness and honesty. Above all, we are looking for writers to produce fearless, new content.

Requirements

  • You care deeply about raising awareness of mental health and helping those with mental health conditions.
  • Able to contribute a minimum of 1–2 pieces per month.
  • Comfortable pitching your ideas and receiving feedback.
  • Have a genuine interest and passion for writing.
  • Looking to learn and improve your writing.
  • Must be proud of the work you produce and love to share it with other people.

Alt Ed Content Creator:

About the Role

As a content creator, you will be creating shareable content, which will be posted on our social media channels such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Linkedin.

Requirements

  • You care deeply about raising awareness of mental health and helping those with mental health conditions.
  • Able to contribute a minimum of 1–2 hours of work per week.
  • Comfortable pitching your ideas and receiving feedback.
  • Have a genuine interest and passion for social media.
  • Looking to learn and improve your understanding of social media.
  • Must be proud of the work you produce and love to share it with other people.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating content for Alt Ed’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter with a 40%/30%/10% split of your time.
  • Applying your understanding of the brand, social media and what makes people share to every piece of content you create.
  • Creating compelling, act-inducing copy for each post.
  • Being accountable for the growth of the channels you are assigned.
  • Balancing quantity and quality when it comes to your content.
  • Understanding what works best on each platform and adapting strategies appropriately.

Alt Ed Student Partner:

About the Role

We’re on the lookout for Student Partners to help us change the way the people think about mental health in universities. At Alternative Education (Alt Ed) we specialise in altering the perception of how people think about mental health. We do this by growing a community of like-minded people supporting each other in our goal of making workplaces and the education sector more open and a safe environment where mental health can be easily discussed.

Requirements

  • You care deeply about raising awareness of mental health and helping those with mental health conditions.
  • Able to contribute a minimum of 1–2 pieces per month.
  • Comfortable pitching your ideas and receiving feedback.
  • Looking to learn more about marketing and improve your marketing skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities — What does the Alt Ed Student Partner (Volunteer) do?

  • Create, maintain and grow Alt Ed at your university and surrounding areas.
  • Be the voice and face of Alt Ed in your respective region.
  • Create social media (Facebook, Twitter, Medium and Linkedin) content for Alt Ed.
  • Source potential partnerships with universities and societies.
  • Plan, execute and represent Alt Ed marketing campaigns at your university.
  • Organise events for your friends, classmates and colleagues at your university.
  • Provide Q&A feedback and product insights to the Alt Ed team and help.
